Mucker Capital closes on $45 million for an early-stage LA-based fund

Santa Monica-based Mucker Capital has raised $45 million for its third fund, Mucker III.

The Silicon Beach firm said that it will continue to invest in software and services startups and continue to focus on the greater Los Angeles area.

In addition, it will invest in seed and pre-seed stage companies through MuckerLab, a new accelerator program.

“We are founders, just like the entrepreneurs we serve,” said Erik Rannala, co-founder and Managing Partner at Mucker Capital, in a statement. “To use a startup fundraising analogy, our first fund was a small friends and family round; our second fund was a seed round that allowed us to validate the core hypotheses of our business; and Mucker III is our Series A.”

Investors in early-stage companies like The Black Tux, Surf Air, BloomNation and Retention Science, the firm scored an early success with an investment in Trunk Club, which was sold to Nordstrom.

The firm said it will invest between $250,000 and $750,000 in seed-round investments and will commit under $100,0000 to the pre-seed participants in its MuckerLab accelerator.
