Swill Launches In New York To Make Buying Alcohol A ‘Seamless’ Experience

Swill has launched in NYC, offering users an easy way to order booze with their phone and have it delivered on the spot.

The app gives users access to a full marketplace of beers, wines, spirits and mixers from various nearby liquor shops so that the process of picking the evening’s inebriant of choice feels a lot like ordering from Seamless. Just with booze. Lots and lots of booze.

On-demand is the new frontier when it comes to e-commerce, and booze delivery is a tough corner of the new world to tackle. While many liquor stores already provide delivery, it’s difficult to have a running menu for people to browse from. Unless they know exactly what they want, ordering over the phone becomes difficult.

Swill solves this by matching up a buyer with a local store that already provides delivery, handling the browsing experience for the consumer and saving time for everyone by powering the transaction through an app instead of over the phone. Of course, Swill remembers your credit card info and relevant addresses to make the experience as quick as possible.

To make money, Swill takes a small slice of each transaction, though the company didn’t disclose what that fee is. There are also opportunities to offer featured products for retailers or brands.

Since launching privately, the company has generated more than $40,000 in revenue and acquired over 500 users.

It’s a dead simple business, that simply requires the proper infrastructure to deliver speedy results every time.

Swill promises delivery within 30 to 60 minutes and claims to have the largest network of retailers in NYC.

This isn’t the only company providing booze delivery. Drizly is also a new competitor in the space, which is sure to continue heating up.

I found this while I was working on this story, and while I can’t find a good reason to share it, I feel compelled to do so.
