Motorola Teases Moto 360 Launch, X And G Phones And More For Sep. 4 Event

Motorola has sent around an invite for revelations of the new Moto 360, along with indications that it will also have news about Moto X and G smartphones, and possibly accessories including a headset at an event on September 4. The invite uses the classic paper fortune teller children’s game as the means to preview what’s going to be up for discussion, with graphics for each of the things described above.

The Moto 360 was announced alongside Android Wear, and was previewed at Google I/O earlier in June, but its ship date was set for later this year. It looks like it’ll arrive in early September if not before, based on this invite. We could also get a look at the Moto X+1, the much-rumored smartphone that is supposedly slated for a September 25 release date. A new variant of the Moto G is also slated to ship on September 10, according to the latest rumors, so it would make sense for all this to be unveiled at this event.

We went hands-on with the Moto 360 at I/O, and it remains our most hotly anticipated smartwatch for the time being. Android Wear is already available to consumers via the LG G Watch and Samsung Galaxy Live, but the Moto 360 will be the first device to offer a round face with Google’s smartwatch platform.

Motorola has to make a big splash in Chicago in early September to give its announcements any chance of being washed away by the Apple event which follows it only five days later, at which time we expect to see the iPhone 6 revealed.
