Smartphones with big ol’ 4″ displays were all the rage in 2010, and they’re not going anywhere this year — but they’re going to get a whole lot slimmer. LG has just kicked off CES with an ultra skinny, Android-powered monster: The Optimus Black.
Here’s everything we know so far:
- 9.2mm thick (Thats about 30% skinnier than the HTC EVO [13mm], or 8% slimmer than the narrowest part of the Droid X [9.9mm])
- LG’s first phone to rock their “NOVA” display, which they claim to be “the brightest, clearest and most readable among mobile screens”. LG claims that NOVA displays use about 50% as much power as an AMOLED display in most cases.
- It’ll launch with Android 2.2, though Android 2.3 support is promised.
- 2 megapixel front facing camera. There’s no mention of a rear camera (or its specs), but we’re assuming it’s there.
- 1,500mAh battery
- Should launch “globally” some time in the first half of this year.
